The Waitlist Problem In Hawaii

The Waitlist Problem in Hawaii

In Hawaii, between 6.9% and 7.8% of hospital admissions are “waitlisted” meaning they need treatment but do not have conditions severe enough to require inpatient admission. However, these patients stay in a hospital because there there are no viable alternatives either at home or another sub-acute facility. HHIC Insight’s waitlst report provides a clear description of the waitlist population in Hawaii and estimate the financial impact on Hawaii’s hospitals.
