inpatient data
 
HHIC has been collecting and disseminating Inpatient Data since 1994. The inpatient database is an all-payer database representing all acute care discharges In Hawaii. HHIC organizes the data in an easy to use format for use from our online reporting tool (HHIC Online Reports®) but data is also available in other formats.
 
Online Interactive Reporting
HHIC’s online reporting application - HHIC Online Reports® - gives the user full control over report content and is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. HHIC Online Reports® also offers a variety of reporting “templates” (designed by users) around topics of key interest including:
  • In-migration and out-migration of health care services
  • Market share comparisons
  • Top reasons for hospitalization
  • Trends of utilization metrics, including discharges, length of stay, charges 
  •  Primary payers of health care conditions 
  •  Population based rates for procedures, conditions with sub-county and county comparisons

Customized Reports & Research-Oriented Data Set
Data and reports can be customized based upon user’s need. Please see Online Reports User Dictionary for variables available for custom requests. Customized requests can made by e-mail to info@hhic.org. 
 
To obtain a limited data set for research, public health, or health care operations, applicants must obtain approval from HHIC's Privacy Board, based on review and approval of HHIC's data request application and receipt of a signed data use agreement. In addition, researchers must obtain Institutional Review Board approval prior to review by HHIC's Privacy Board. Fees for licensing a limited data set are based on a per record fee, plus handling fee. (Beginning with 2006 discharge data, the cost to federal agencies is $15,000 per dataset.)
