HHIC collects data on all emergency department visits in Hawaii beginning with discharges on January 1, 2000.  The ED data provide a new resource for population-based studies of ED services, including all hospital-based emergency department encounters within Hawaii.

HHIC’s online reporting application - HHIC Online Reports® - gives the user full control over report content and is available 24/7/365. HHIC Online Reports® also offers a variety of reporting “templates” (designed by users) around topics of key interest including:

Customized Reports & Research-Oriented Data Set

To obtain a limited data set for research, public health, or health care operations, applicants must obtain approval from HHIC's Privacy Board, based on review and approval of HHIC's data request application and receipt of a signed data use agreement. In addition, researchers must obtain Institutional Review Board approval prior to review by HHIC's Privacy Board. Fees for licensing a limited data set are based on a per record fee, plus handling fee. (Beginning with 2010 ED admission data, the cost to federal agencies is $16,000 per dataset.)
