Driving to Improve Quality and Safety Performance
in Hawaii Hospitals
The meter above summarizes how Hawaii’s hospitals compare to the U.S. for select quality and safety measures. A “strong” performance score indicates the hospitals in Hawaii are doing better, on the average, than the U.S. A “weak” performance score indicates Hawaii’s hospitals, on the average, are doing worse than the U.S. An average score indicates that overall Hawaii hospital quality or safety score is similar to the U.S. The quality and safety measures were developed by investigators at Stanford University and the University of California, under a contract with the Agency of Healthcare Quality and Research (AHRQ).
